Job opportunity - Counselor

Naivasha Children’s Shelter is seeking to fill the position of a counselor as detailed below;

Job title: Counselor

Reporting line: Director

Purpose: Counselor will be responsible for providing clinical assessment and intensive, specialized mental health treatment to street-connected children and youth. The Counselor will also provide counseling to family members of street-connected children, as needed, to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment of the child. Mental health treatment will primarily be provided at Shelter, but can also be in home or at school.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  1. Counsel street-connected youth and their families.

  2. Keep thorough and confidential records.

  3. Be available for occasional travel to work with families in a home setting

  4. Perform any other duties assigned by the Director.

 

Minimum Requirements and experience

  • Bachelors in Counseling, Psychology or a related field.

  • Experience in youth counseling.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
