Send Relief Family Care Centre
Every child deserves to grow up in a safe and loving family. That belief is at the heart of all we do at Shelter Yetu.
Together with Send Relief, we have launched the Family Care Training Centre, a space dedicated to helping churches, donors, and Children’s Charitable Institutions (CCIs) learn how to strengthen families and reduce the need for residential care.
Why We Exist
Many children end up in institutions not because they are orphans, but because families are struggling. The Family Care Training Centre was created to help change that. We work to strengthen systems of family care by:
Equipping local churches to respond wisely and compassionately to children in need in their communities, so that their support strengthens families instead of replacing them.
Supporting CCIs as they transition from institutional care to family and community-based care.
Helping international donors and partners understand how their giving can create lasting change through family care rather than institutional models.
What We Do
Trainings and workshops: We offer practical, interactive training on topics like reintegration, kinship care, positive parenting, and child protection within families for both local church leaders and CCIs.
Support for organizations: We walk alongside CCIs, churches, and community groups that want to strengthen families or shift from institutional care models.
Why It Matters
Children thrive in families. Research shows that families give children a stronger sense of belonging, identity, and stability. Through the Send Relief Family Care Training Centre, we are helping to put this truth into action by ensuring that churches, CCIs, and international partners have the skills and knowledge to make family care possible.
When we strengthen families, fewer children end up in institutions and more can grow up surrounded by love and stability.
